  • We do not suggest applying it on the outside because the weather will deteriorate it. The blackout window film is meant for inside use.

  • If the surface is flat and not textured, I’m sure it can be applied to a sky light.

  • Indoor plants will grow normally, this product is effective to block UV rays, glare and some heat.

  • If you have a light in anyone can see inside at night from outside. Without a light in its like a regular window.

  • Yes it is. The static cling window film goes on with water. If you want to remove it, just take it down without leaving any residues.

I tried this window blackout cling, and I’m really impressed! It was super easy to apply—just peel and stick—and it immediately blocked out all the light. This has made such a difference in my sleep quality, especially during the day. Plus, it doesn’t leave any residue when removed, which is a big plus. If you're looking for an affordable and effective way to darken a room, I highly recommend this product!I've had it on my window for couple years now and still going strong.I don't recommend standing naked infront of said window with lights on at night, everyone will see. BUT during the day, it's perfect.

This window film does a good job of blocking heat and providing privacy during the day, as long as there’s more light outside than inside. The reflective effect works well in sunlight, making it harder for people to see in. However, at night, the privacy disappears completely—if you have lights on inside, people can see right through the window.Installation was a bit tricky, as getting rid of bubbles required patience and a lot of smoothing. The adhesive is strong, but you have to be careful when applying to avoid wrinkles. Also, keep in mind that it slightly darkens the room, so if you rely on natural light, this could be an issue.Overall, it serves its purpose for daytime privacy and heat reduction, but the lack of nighttime privacy and the tricky installation process bring it down to a 3-star rating.

Pros:The first package that I received was crushed and the film was bent in half, I sent it back and I got a replacement very quickly.Cons:1)This film is not a true mirror finish, it looks like you are looking at yourself in aluminum foil2)The film is super thick and very difficult to trim with a good brand-new box cutter.3)Doesnt stick very well.4)It blocks your incoming light by a good 50% instead of reflecting the light.I found at Lowes the hardware store a privacy control film on titanium finish that was just perfect, more expensive but I guess you get what you pay for it.

I’d seen these films for a while but was dubious about how well they would stick, work and last.My flat is south facing and gets a lot of heat and light, but summers are unbearable in the lounge with a double patio door. This blocks out about 50% of the light during the day (takes some getting used to), but was easy to install with water and a squeegee. The roll minimised creases during the application, and the length and width is perfect for the patio doors I’ve covered. It looks great and keeps the flat cooler now too!In the photo (left is outside no filter, right is the patio door with the film on in the same shot for comparison)

Summer heat savings! I choose a cling product so that the treatment is not permanent.Look, light and heat - the film let’s plenty of light into the area. Having the film on the window does reduce light during the day but not to a degree that is negative. The heat from the sun shining directly in the window is much less! I was surprised and grateful.Installation was easy. Tips to help make it super easy -1) have a very sharp blade! 2) invest in a good squeegee 3) clean the glass and area good - remove all dust, hair. I found that installation was best when the AC wasn’t blowing air around. We have doggies so there’s a bit of hair around that loved to cling on! 4) use a paper towel on the end of the squeegee. It helped grab the water as I got to the edge. Made clean up easier. 5) use plenty of the water and soap solution. Don’t be afraid to use plenty. 6) measure as close as possible but don’t be concerned if it’s too big at first. Better too big after cutting than too small and waste what you have. 7) if you have to put two pieces together due to size of window and film, the two edges that meet must be straight straight straight or you will have to cut down and that is a tedious and frustrating work effort. Lol. You will see a seam no matter what. But it’s so small if done right that it’s not too bothersome to the eye. I did my split toward the top of a window so that it’s out of view and not easily seen.Hope you enjoy the project!

My apartment has one large window that faces directly west and in summer heat my AC struggles to keep the room comfortable from mid afternoon until sunset, despite pretty heavy blackout curtains. I ordered this after seeing forecasts for an unusually early May heatwave in Central Texas and installed it about two weeks ago. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and also ordered a window film toolkit, although really all you need is a stiff plastic squeegee, a spray bottle, scissors and a utility knife. The only difficulty I had with installation was with measuring and cutting the film because the film kept wanting to roll back up. I didn’t really have an adequately large work surface though, otherwise it would have been easy enough to weight down the edges while measuring and cutting. The actual application to the window panes was very easy though, I just cleaned the glass really well and used plenty of water on the window and both sides of the film. Trimming the excess was also a snap, and the fit is (almost) perfect.I could tell it made a significant difference, the room has stayed comfortable throughout the afternoon even with outside temps in the upper 90s. Today I actually measured it directly. I didn’t have quite enough film to cover all four large panes, and there is gap of about six inches at the bottom of one. I placed two identical thermometers on the windowsill between the curtain and the glass this morning, one in front of the uncovered gap and one on the opposite end in front of a fully covered pane. I checked them when I got home from work and the fully covered side read 93, the unprotected side was 104, a significant difference. Note that’s not the air temperature in the room but the temperature in direct sunlight behind the curtains. I’m going to order another roll today to cover that last gap, even though I only need about six inches of it.

We purchased a little old cottage to fix up for when we are retired. It needs a lot of work. Using the front entry for supply storage, it is messy and embarrassing. Here you can see, even right close up, you can't see through it.It's not as reflective close up as the photo appears. It's just black, like the distant photo shows. They were nice enough to send a mirror sample! I was wondering if I should have bought the mirror or the black. We did not buy the mirror because we thought it might be a visual safety hazard for people walking/driving by. It's not but imo is not as attractive as the black. However, the black does darken the room substantially more than the silver. It is incredibly easy to put up. I gave myself lots of time. My spray bottle has a bit of dettol in it but that doesn't seem to affect adherence. I learned quickly it can be too dry but cannot be too wet. I ended up spraying the window AND the sticky side of the film. Wetting both quite well allowed me to slide it around a bit and the bubbles slid out far more easily. I could also pull it off and place it on again more easily. It's not dry yet so I don't yet know how easily it will be removed after that but I'm not anticipating great difficulty. I don't see wanting to remove it any time soon.We have yet to see how cooling it is, as this small room is like a sauna during some portions of the day. There is decent visibility from inside but the silver has better in-to-out visibility.Still I can see out quite well while a person outside would not see me at all.I'm very pleased with the privacy aspect of this film!!! (The most important aspect for us.)
