I only used it once so far. Simple to use, made the job easier than the previous job I'd done without this tool.

The threads on this tool are cut too flat and too thick to mate with the nut on a standard compression fitting. It was very frustrating to discover this in the middle of a plumbing project.

I received this olive puller in December 2023. The product I received exactly matched the pictures on the Amazon product page. I was surprised at how hefty it was when I inspected it. There were no manufacturing defects or sharp edges on the puller I received. Anyone ordering this should be doing so understanding that it is made of brass because ideally you don't use a tool that is constructed of a much harder metal than what you are using the tool on since a harder metal highly increases the chances of damaging the metal you are using the tool on. The tool being made of brass also has the benefit of not rusting. Since I have copper water pipes I wanted to use this tool as a "level 1" attempt at removing compression rings from the pipe before resorting to more heavy duty tools made of a harder metal. I tested this tool on a supply line water pipe I was replacing a shutoff valve on and the tool worked great. I have worked on pipes with very stubborn compression rings that have basically fused to the pipe and usually I end up having to just cut the pipe. I do have another similar puller made of steel which I'll use as my "level 2" tool to try to remove a compression ring before having to resort to cutting the pipe. Overall I think the quality of this tool matches the price point it is at so I think it is a good value for what you get.

This does what it is designed to do. If you have not used this type tool before watch an online video. It saved me from having to cut my copper pipe when replacing my toilet valve

This ferrule puller (aka “Olive Puller”) is a brass compression ring plumbing puller tool made for use 1/2" ID inside diameter / 5/8 OD outside diameter water pipe, and 3/4” ID inside diameter / 7/8” outside diameter water pipes. Brass compression ferrules are found on pipe-to-pipe compression connectors (see photo) and on chrome water stop valves (see photo) under a toilet and sink in the bathroom. Once installed, a brass ferrule is compressed to make a watertight connection, and should it need to be removed in the future, it is very difficult to remove the compressed ferrule without damaging the integrity of the water pipe itself. This ferrule puller applies constant and even pressure against pipe and the threaded compression connection nut to slide the compressed ferrule toward the open end of the pipe and then off the pipe. While you will not use this compression plumbing puller on a daily basis, but for the times you need it, it will pay off big time as it is a time saver and compression ring problem solver! The only thing that I was disappointed about was that it did not come with any operating instructions nor warranty information. Other than that, it is a great specialty plumbing tool!
