Pitting cherries for fruit salads and fruit tabboulehs used to drive me nuts. So much so I’d leave the cherries out. Can’t do that if you want to make cherry pie or scones, though. I really didn’t expect this cherry pitter to work very well, but I was wrong. And the fact it can do 7 cherries at once is a bonus. You do need to make sure the red lid is on properly. If not, you could break it. And it does take a bit of pressure. But I’m 70 and have arthritis in my fingers and yet I have no problem at all. So It can’t take THAT much pressure, right?I haven’t tried it on olives yet, but according to the instructions it should work on those. too. I’m looking forward to my next visit to Phoenicia. My favorite olives are their low sodium green olives, but I’ve always hated the fact they aren’t pitted. Now, I might have the solution.The device is made from plastic and seems well-made. It might not last forever, but for the price, I can afford to replace it if it ever fails. And believe me, I will.

I used to watch Good Eats with Alton Brown and he always frowned on "unitaskers" that only did one thing. Well my Amazon friends, Alton Brown was wrong, because this cherry pitter is a pure delight and is so worth the kitchen drawer space it requires. It makes the tedious and messy task of pitting cherries a joy. With two toddlers that have a never ending desire to eat cherries, this tool has revolutionized our cherry preparation process.You pop in some cherries, it doesn't even matter how you orient them, pressed down hard, and ta da, you have pitted cherries with almost no mess. And then you can do it again and again and don't have to clean up the pitter until you are all done. It's fantastic. Highly recommended product.Some caveats. You do need some strength to press the pitter down, so its probably not for those with weak wrists and carpal tunnel. I also am unsure of how durable it will prove to be but so far so good through the top rack of the dish washer a few times.

I've been wanting a cherry pitter for the last 30 years, but I was put off by the price and the fact that they only do one at a time, why bother. Then I saw this one--multiple cherries!I make a lot of fruit sauces on the stove that I use on my yogurt. Cherries are tricky because of the pits, and I usually just cook the whole fruit and then fish the pits out. But now I can use this device! It's also supposed to be good for olives. Unfortunately, right now our cherry season is just over and I've just eaten the last bag of cherries when this pitter arrived; so testing it will have to wait a little, but I'll post back if there any problems. It really has a clever design and looks like it's going to be easy to rinse it out and clean. The plastic is good quality, nice and thick, so the whole device seems very sturdy.I was thinking how when my kids were small. I used to hesitate giving them cherries because of the pits. This would be a good device to be able to give pitless cherries to very young children. This pitter would make an unusual housewarming gift, especially during the season you could give it with a bag of cherries. It's one of those devices that in the future people will say, "What do you think they use this for? " I am going to hunt for some fresh cherries this week!

My wife loves cherries, and this time of year you can tend to get them on sale. I got this because she wanted to freeze some for those times they aren't so cheap. First thoughts were that the packaging was a little flimsy, and it definately wasn't American made. Anyway we stemmed, rinsed the cherries and put them in the pitter. My wife could not simply push it down without pounding on it like a hammer. I was able to push it down, but I'm 260 lbs, so I've got the weight behind me. So, when you push the pitter down, the pits may or may not come out all the way. Most times we needed to turn it over and pull the pits out. Also, after about 3 sets of "pitting", one of the cherry pits must have been extra large, because it broke the plastic around the hole where the pit is supposed to go through. One last thing is that there is no way to take this apart where the pitter and water etc. seems to collect and there is no way to get it out. I'm on the fence with this one. It does work, but not as well as I would like.

This litter worked great and is a huge time saver. We live in northern Michigan so have plenty of opportunities to use this. It’s ver easy to use and well worth keeping this tool in your kitchen if you buy cherries.
