They're fine. I ordered 2, they both work as expect. One is on a raspberry pi for remote admin into a serial console, the other is with my Debian-based laptop similar situations.

I bought this to work with my old PalmPilot. It does work when the correct drivers are installed. Finding the correct one takes a while and so a QR code on the cable would help. One installed you get a COM port and can configure with the hotsync software. Was worth buying for an old Palm.

I’ve got an old bar top game that’s back has a female 9-pin port - for a keyboard, I assume(?)I try editing msgs on the game and get “no keyboard connected” error msg. ONE time I’d plugged in an OLD kb via some adapter and DIDNT get that error, but bc it wasn’t the correct kb, it wouldn’t change the messages either.

Do not purchase this product, it does not work with Windows 11 and when I try to return it Amazon just keeps saying 'product not returnable' but was delivered from Amazon warehouseSo much for Amazon after sales, when you try to return as defective you are in a loop with Amazon and you go around in circles. Amazon return process is hopeless with sellers like this

Just what I needed! This is a great adapter to connect Cisco networking devices to terminals or PCs (which do not have a serial port) to access the CLI (Command Line Interface) for configuration.

Received today on time. Sadly it didn’t fit the monitor I bought it for. I had kept all the packaging and then went to return the item and order an alternative only to find that returns NOT PERMITTED!£10 down the drain but my mistake for not being 100% sure before i ordered. Lesson learned

This a great cable - anybody that orders this cable - I'd suggest -> C2G/Cables to Go 02781 DB9 F/F Serial RS232 Mini Gender Changer - I needed one for my wife whom needed this adapter cable to program Wireless Access Points @ her work - both the cable end & the Access Point had male DB9 ports - using the Mini Gender Changer - she was able to access & program the points with no issues what so ever ... worked great with the latest release of Win10 ...

How many times have you been attending a fancy dinner at a five star restaurant and had to use a drab black USB to RS-232 data transfer cable? Hundreds? Thousands? Yeah, me too!!! That is until I purchased this Cable Matters USB to RS-232 DB9 cable. The first time I pulled out this cable, the din of the room immediately transformed into whispers accompanied by stares and expressions of delight. With it's sparkly silver cable and sky blue/turquoise/aquamarine connectors, I know everyone was wondering if this dream of a cable was actually functional or if it was simply some of the greatest eye-candy ever manufactured. Well, when folks saw my vintage 1985 cream colored mouse playfully controlling the cursor on the CRT monitor, I knew. I knew that this cable was going to change my life. I knew there was no going back to ordinary USB to RS-232 cables. If you want to impress total strangers with what is arguably the most fashionable data transfer cable in existence, you must purchase this cable. You can thank me later.

Does what it's supposed to and is built pretty solid. You may need to find drivers online to get the COM ports setup however.

I use USB to DB9 cables often at work since newer laptops typically don't have a DB9 port. This cable uses the Prolific PL2303 chipset and there are others that use the FTDI chipset. I own both types and have not had any issues using either. For all of my applications I use laptops with Windows 7, thus I cannot speak to how they perform on other operating systems. The drivers on the included CD include MAC, and multiple Windows OS. This is also a very well made cable with good strain relief on both ends.

We replaced a very high priced industrial converter (no longer available) with this unit and were a bit worried about the reliability of a comerical unit in this application. After 2 weeks of testing the cable matters unit passed all test and continues to work well in this application. Driver installation was strightforward. This is a very high quality product at a reasonable price.
