Just got this wouldn’t turn on battery corroded and ate through the wiring.

I was a bit disappointed with a few sessions of this beacon and probe. The probe didn’t work how it should on a few occasions. With the transceiver, I received a false burial on one test run which decreased my confidence in trusting this beacon. My Ortovox changes tone the closer you get to a signal, the Pieps stays a constant monotone beep which makes you really reliant on looking at the screen instead of the terrain. I appreciate that Pieps offers bluetooth/USB updatable software after I had to send my Ortovox to Germany for a few months.The iProbe II only works with a Pieps compatible beacon. So, unless your backcountry buddies have the same beacon, it’s a really cool feature that you won’t be able to use often. The probe is a cool idea but if the snow isn’t super deep it is hard to see the visual cues or hear the beeps on the probe when it is way above your head. Couldn’t get the probe to turn on/off appropriately or to recognize the Pieps beacon in one trial. I found myself becoming overly concerned about the probe tone/signals and focusing less on the burial and my training. Additionally, the false burial was a really worrisome finding.
