Cheap junk - no quality control. Ok as a toy for a toddler but not useful for navigation. The needle of six of the nine items received did not rotate freely, making the compass useless for navigation. One star for the close resemblance that the product has to an actual working compass.

First, these compasses should never be used for any real navigation. They are training tools and are for fun. They are not even close to being accurate and could not hold a steady direction. I was in a field at girl scout camp so there was not much interference to blame. Even with that being said, I guess they were good enough to teach the girls basic compass operation KI will note that a few of the compasses were broke on arrival and I did not even have time to send them back. The compasses are easily held in the palm of your had. They are also made of durable sturdy plastic and is attached to a thin lanyard that can be used to hang the compass from your neck. All in all, the compasses are mediocre at best. They are novelty prize quality. You get what you pay for.

Bruh. A compass is supposed to tell you which way north is. Good for cheap, nonfunctional toys to give away en masse.

We bought them for a boys group, so the price is right there. Not the highest quality, but great for the price. All the ones I checked seemed accurate, so would recommend.

I bought these for my boyscouts troop. If you read the reviews the biggest complaint is that they don't all work. Well, your lucky if any of them work when you get them. Anyone who is familiar with a compass knows you can't put them together because of magnetics. The same thing could happen if you put a cell phone and a compass both together in one pocket. Only one of them had to be remagnetized in the right direction from my purchase. It was really easy to do. All you need is a strong magnet and the knowledge to do it. In this case YouTube or Google. Not sorry for my purchase! FYI they are not water filled in case you needed to know that. Still a fabulous deal.

I didn't expect much, but I was happy that they all pointed north! I didn't find a bad one in the lot. Your mileage may vary, but for the price...not bad at all!

I'm teaching a land navigation course in our co-op this year. I needed everyone to have the same compass style for teaching. This was a perfect little base plate. Simple with no extra features that weren't nessasry to our land navigation trip. I ordered two sets and most worked great. I had about 3 in each pack that had an air bubble. I made it difficult for the magnetic north needle to get where it needed to go. But for the price it did the job. The bezel is a little wobbly but, my 12 student had no trouble fining there bearings within a few degrees of eachother. And for our teaching purposes that was fine. So overall very happy with my purchase and the kids each had there own to work with and learn on. Win win!

I bought these to lead scouts on an orienteering course. Thankfully all of them were pointing in the right direction, although one of them had its polarity swapped. The needles rotated on their axle freely. The compass housings were a bit loose so it is easy for the bearing you set to shift if bump it. Otherwise, these were accurate enough for the course.
