Despite weak hinges & an awkward acrylic splash guard, this cookbook stand performs better than I expected it to because the bottoms of both sections have little silicone feet that keep it standing stably in place under the weight of large and/or heavy cookbooks.It will not withstand bumping the way larger, heavier cookbook stands do, but it does work reliably when undisturbed & it takes up a lot less space.It's awkward to store because the rope is really thick & won't just hang on a nail (needs a large hook), the acrylic splash guard is substantially wider than the stand & fits unstably without a cookbook to hold it in place & it won't fold up flush because the wire placeholder prevents the bottom from doing so.I don't have the counter space to leave it out, it keeps getting knocked over, so I just keep it on top of the box on my highest shelf to get it out of the way until I can figure out a place & attractive way to hang it, at which point I'll probably throw out the nuisance acrylic splash guard because it's too awkward to deal with.Otherwise, the bamboo pieces are actually quite nice.If bamboo is as easy to re-hardware as regular wood, this could probably be fixed up pretty easily & last a good long while.Finally, while the Kitchen Conversions are attractive & add character, they are only accurate within the US Customary System, and approximately accurate between US Customary & metric.They should be OK for regular cooking, but I wouldn't use the metric numbers to calculate for baking or canning.

This cookbook stand has been a helpful addition to my kitchen. It's made of bamboo, which is a nice, natural material, and it seems pretty sturdy. I like that it holds my cookbooks open so I don't have to worry about them flopping closed while I'm trying to cook. The acrylic splash guard is a thoughtful feature, keeping my pages clean from spills and splatters. It's easy to adjust the angle of the stand, so I can see the recipe clearly. The stand is also lightweight, making it easy to move around the kitchen. It's big enough to hold most of my cookbooks, including some larger ones. This bamboo cookbook stand is simple and sturdy. I love all the conversion charts on it. I had a difficult time getting the metal bookholder in place and had to have my husband bend one side out a little. I do have two old cookbooks that are too big to use the bookholder with, but they don't need help staying open so that's okay. I admit, I am a messy cook so I really appreciate the clear plastic book shield. I like the little silicone feet on it that keep it from slipping. The hinges are too loose to keep this folded up tightly for hanging (my only complaint). This comes in a giftable box. $20.99 (at time of review) is a great price for this.

The bamboo cutting board/cookbook holder/kitchen information source is a multitasker for the countertop. It’s an attractive piece, with a touch of color for the conversion measurements. There is a black iron piece to install at the bottom, very easy, that will hold a cookbook in place. I have two issues, thus the four stars: 1) The hinged “leg” piece attached on the back, meant to allow the board to stand up as it holds a cookbook, only has one open position, and it is very low, just several inches up from the counter, effectively laying the cookbook fairly flat. This takes up much more counter space than keeping it more upright, but there is no other option for this board. 2) Included in the package was an acrylic clear piece that is meant to go over the open cookbook to protect it from spills and splatters. This is a good idea, but the piece that came was all scratched and stained already, and couldn’t be cleaned off, so it seems it wouldn’t last very long at all.
