I've used some awesome hi-hat mics over the years, including the Line Audio CM3, Beyerdynamic M160, and Audio-Technica's own 4000 series pencil condensers. This is a VERY good mic for the price. It really does sound great. It does a great job capturing my hi-hats raw, and once I apply all my plugins and post-processing, it's fairly indiscernible from its professional counterparts to anyone with average ears. I would say it's great on any cymbal or as an overhead. Hell, you can probably get away with capturing many different drum components (or even other instruments) with this little guy. Durable, sleek, and bright. It comes with a clip, carrying case, and windscreen (which is helpful in attenuating any air displaced by your pumping hi-hats). If you're looking for a drum mic on a budget, order a Pro 37.

This is the most versatile mic we have. Works well with everything from a single instrument to multiple vocals and guitars. Great for live use. Our sound guys really like it.

Good solid condenser. I like that it's cardioid and not super/hyper cardioid. All patterns have their place but sometimes you just want an "instrument mic" that pics up over a little wider area. If you're not trying to be "real tight" (cymbals?) with your placement and are not having feedback issues, this has a great pattern/sensitivity/natural sound. It feels well built and is very small and unobtrusive. I've used it for live sound (church, instruments, sometimes choirs) and also for video recording. It was great for picking up room sounds/ambience while we picked up the vocals with a boompole/shotgun mic. The fact that this is "tiny" made it easy to place without being seen on camera.Very happy with the 2 I bought for my church and bought 2 more for my work.

small lightweight excellent cardioid pattern, suitable for lecturns, pulpits, on-stand speaking/singing purposes. I bought (separately) a teardrop shaped foam windscreen which gives it a professional look as well.

I bought this for miking acoustic guitar and mandolin in a dance band through mid-grade sound systems. The reproduction is very accurate and has a clear, natural sound. It particularly shines on mandolins. As a condenser, it has a good pickup range and you don't have to focus on staying right on top of it as you do with dynamic mikes. I really like being able to move in and out to regulate my volume between chunking rhythm and paying melody, something that's much harder to do with a pickup. There are cheaper condensers out there, but his one is manufactured in Japan and I know of some AT condensers that are still in service after 20 years. You get what you pay for.

This is a very well built and musical mic that's surprisingly light, unobtrusive and remarkably dynamic. I don't have much experience with better microphones and only have two other condenser mics, but this little mic is far more musical than any other High-Z dynamic mic I own. Other's noted that it's tipped up at about 400hz, I swear I don't notice that at all although our room seem to suck all the midrange from acoustic instruments. I find it to be bright and airy and very pleasant to listen to when micing guitars and mandolins. We don't do many shows that call for using this mic, usually I have to tell bands not to try to compete with the drums, alas, the stage is littered with broken drum sticks. I bought this for the rare occasion when we get some "unplugged" artist who wants their audience to experience music with some sort of dynamic range aside from just plain loud and this mic is perfect for that.

Great mic for the money. I've been using a pair of these on my Seagull CW Mable HG in the studio and it sounds pretty good. I would note, however, that these pick up a LOT of bass frequencies, and you will have to be careful in your placement to make sure you're picking up a nice, even spectrum. For the home studio, though, I'd say these are an excellent solution for the budget musician.

I bought this mic to use when recording and acoustic guitar at the 14 th fret. It works very well. I cannot compare it to others because it is the first one I have bought and since it works well I use it.

I was using an sm57 to record some acoustic stuff (I'm an electric guitarist, hence the sm57). It sounded decent, but I felt there were so many aspects of my acoustic that it was not capturing. After reading the reviews, I knew I had to try it. This little mic is astounding! Much, much better than the sm57. Practically everything my ear heard from the guitar, the mic was able to pick up. It really knows how to capture the highs as well as the lows. The overall sound quality is just warm, sweet, and incredibly detailed. This mic is small in size, but is massive in sound quality!
