I have a fish and ski boat and the back passenger seats are also used as pedestal seats for fishing. The old hardware was corroded and had to be replaced, but the seat were stable and sturdy in either position. I bought two Swivel-ease 238 Pedestal Kits (seat mount, extension post and socket base) and two 238 Series Socket Bases. The seat mounts work correctly with the fixed height extension posts and the extension posts work correctly with the socket bases, but the seat mounts do not fit securely when used directly in the socket bases. Because there are no pictures in the 2021 Attwood Catalog showing the seat mounts used directly in the seat bases, I called their consumer line to ensure this was a valid application and I was assured that it was. As a retired mechanical engineer I have much experience with dimensioning and tolerances and types of fits. The problem with this system is that there is insufficient overlap in the cylindrical fit between the seat mount bottom edge and the plastic insert in the seat base. When a tipping load is applied to the seat, the very small overlap and nominal clearance allows it to lift up out of the cylinder to a larger diameter which allows the seat to lurch and tilt. It also causes fretting at the edges of the plastic seat mount and plastic seat base insert which can only get worse in time. If the insert cylindrical fit had a small increase in height, about 1/8- to 1/4-inch, this would not be a problem. It would increase the installed height of the extension post by the same amount as it sits on the top of the edge of the fit cylinder, but would not affect the rotation lock feature because the slot is tall enough so that the locking tab is not blocked. Only the plastic inserts of the socket bases need to be changed and made available to dupes like me. An alternative fix would be to add a spacer ring (that stays in place).

Good quality product though not inexpensive. I need to add an additional pedestal seat to my boat and this work perfectly as it was designed to.

Very tight fit to the seat posts. After 1 use the plastic bushing broke and does not lock in place anymore. Serves its purpose for my fishing boat but not happy with the bushings being such poor quality.
