Cute kit, but not for brand new beginners. Not difficult to make, but the instructions presume some basic skills. A very good 2nd or 3rd project, and the cost of everything that is included is very reasonable.

This is adorable, really nice colors too. The only suggestion I would make would be to add more wool to the kit. I was running out so instead of an orange and white cat, I bought more wool and ended up making a calico cat instead!

I bought one for each of our 11 year old nieces. They loved the craft and added their own creative touches. Fairly easy to follow instructions. Good You Tube video recommended that is really fun. Really cool crafting skill.

So far I think this will be a great beginner tool for learning how to needle felt. I have recently lost a pet and would like to create a little figurine with some of her hair. Great way to learn, and so cute.

I've never done this before. I watched a couple of how to YouTube videos to feel comfortable about it, but once I got into it and got the feel of it i found it easier and fun. I doubt it's as great as it could be? But for a first try I'm happy with it.The instructions are small and some of them I did not follow in order, but had no significant impact on the end product.

I am a beginner when it comes to needle felting. I bought this kit to help me work on 3-D felting. The instructions were adequate. I had a certain amount of trouble getting started but soon got the hang of it. I will order more kits from this company. It took a lot longer to finish that I thought it would.

Sometimes I think people who grow up with a craft forget or don't understand what it means to be a true beginner. It's easy to assume what is obvious to them is obvious even to those who have never even seen (in this case) a needle felted sculpture. This cheerful little kitty was given to me as a gift after I discovered and became fascinated with youtube videos of needle felting. Fortunately, I had seen those videos so that when I was given a vague instruction such as: Take out of a little white wool. And prepare 4pc light brown wool (2xmore; 2xless) ... out of which I'm to felt four limbs of fairly specific sizes ... then: tip: keep limbs half felted and a bit fluffy... I at least had some idea how to start. For someone going in blind, they'd have no idea. There are three needles included with no hints as to the differences between them...if there even is a difference. To my touch they all acted alike. There's nothing to show, close up , the difference between "half felted" and (I suppose) fully felted. "Connect" and "compact" are other terms never demonstrated.Did I figure it out? Sure. And the little squirt is darned cute (see photo). As you can see in the photo, I even learned enough to freehand a little kitten out of the remaining wool. (he's not quite finished) But I'd watched the videos of far more complex figures being created and have done a fair amount of crafting of other sorts. To a true newbie, it could be quite daunting. In order for it to truly be for beginners, what the company really needs, in my opinion, is a second sheet with some clear pix demonstrating the basic process and methods. Showing how to take loose wool and form a tube. Showing how to connect pieces. Showing a comparison of "loose" vs "compact". One thing I discovered, too loose and it poofs back out overnight, and the difference between "loose" and "too loose" is a fairly fine line. I just did a really fast example of my very amateur understanding of the difference (see pic of pink swatches). These all began as the same size chunk of wool. The top one is felted just enough to hold it's shape and get a relatively even distribution of the wool, the next is what I now consider the "fluffy, half-felted" i.e. enough to hold its shape pretty well overnight, and the bottom is "compact" i.e. it's not going much of anywhere any time soon. As you can see, there's a vast difference in size. This means you've got to be ready to add or even cut away wool in order to get the final result properly proportional.Because of these limitations in the instructions, and the fact that it's not that easy to get the little guy proportional, I gave it a low rating on the "for beginners." I also gave a medium rating on the "value for money" because in this hobby $10 will get you a lot more supplies. What you're paying for is the instructions, which are somewhat lacking. If you're remotely familiar with the hobby and have already invested in the foam, you could look a the picture and make three or four for substantially less. OTOH, as a "try to see if I like it" or as a gift for a crafty friend, or something to gift to a child to create and learn together, it's a wonderful value.

This was CUTEST little kit I have seen in a long time! It really looks like a teeny kitten asleep in the palm in your hand when you complete it. The kit itself was great, high quality wool, a very nice merino and it was good to know that it came from non mulsed sheep (sheep that were not abused or hurt because of fly infestation, look it up on a search engine) and much finer than many kits that are out there, plus the needles also were nice. Although not marked, they are 3 different lengths that actually mark the fact they are 3 different gauges, a work horse needle (36 gauge I believe), an all purpose (38 gauge) and even a finer gauge (40 gauge) to help you work all the way through the project and really make it look great as you go along. The foam mat is a premium mat and you can reuse it after the kit is finished and the instructions were pretty clear. It could be created by a beginner or someone more experienced and both will love the results. I love the patterns and kits this vendor has created - I will continue to purchase from them and recommend them to others as their price point is great and their kits are fantastic!I have added some pictures of me making this cute little guy so you can see how easy it is to do. I made sure you could see the directions and the pad and leather finger protectors that are provided to protect you from accidental pokes. I also included a picture of all the great goodies you get when you order from them. I ordered several kits from them as you can see in the picture but they all include the same great stuff in the kit. Awesome packaging - including gift wrapping if you want, and the great pad to use, needles, finger guards and the high grade wool with more than enough of each color to make your project.
