I got these small bits for our 8HP CNC which had a nasty habit of eating the solid carbide bits for breakfast. With HSS you get a sharper bit for cleaner cuts, and a more flexible metal which helps it absorb shock and reduces the instances of breaking (carbide simply does not flex at all.)HSS downside vs carbide is of course carbide will hold it's edge longer. Balance that advantage with breaking bits however, and suddenly edge retention is a secondary concern. I'd advise anyone that needs this sort of small diameter cutting tool to stock some HSS from a known name like Amana as part of your tool kit.

I didn't blink twice before purchasing this bit... great pricetag and has all the quality that comes with any Amana product. Great for cutting aluminum (clean chips, no material amalgamation, and clean cuts). A must buy!

Got this for my drill press, as i dont have a milling machine, for an aluminum project. Gotta run it at high speed for a drill press. It cut clean and efficiently.

The sharpest router bit I've ever owned and the holes it routes are so smooth with absolutely no ripping or tearing of the wood. I'll eventually replace all my bits with Amana. A little more expensive but well worth the money.
