This really is a great towel holder! The base is weighted, so it doesn’t fall over when you pull off a paper towel. The bar that holds the towels close to the roll works really well, without making it more difficult to pull them. Even my husband remarked on how well the holder works!

My old upright paper towel holder has seen better days, so I went online to find a replacement. Boy, have the prices gone up since I bought the old one - but what hasn't? I wanted one with an arm that would hold the towels in place so they wouldn't unravel off the tube and was surprised to see that most were not spring-loaded to stay in place as the roll diminished in size. This one has that and is a very simple design, nothing fancy, which is what I wanted. I was surprised to see that it came in three pieces, unassembled. Really? It was simple to put it together once I figured out that the two screws needed to do so were already in place on the pedestal and needed to be removed with a screwdriver, then used to attach the post and arm. Okay, so that should have been obvious, but I am in my mid-70s, so it took longer to figure it out.

My base had a small dent but it is at the back and you don't see it. Looks good on the counter. Paper towls rip off easily.

Well, the old bamboo holder bit the dust and I wanted something a little more stylish and bought this one. It's been a few months and while it looks really good on my counter, it's already got a little bit of rust starting up where the arm meets the base. Also the arm is not really flexible, I had thought there was a spring or something that keeps the arm against the paper towel roll as it gets smaller in diameter, but it does not. It is also too tight to allow a new roll of the biggest Bounty paper towels to spin and turn when you need to get one off. I do like the weight, it is sturdy and doesn't fall over when I yank hard on it, my old bamboo holder either fell over or allowed several towels to unroll in one yank. So for all its faults, it looks good and for the most part works as we need it to.

Our previous holder had to be unscrewed every time you change the paper towels. I believe that is why it ended up breaking because the bolt got too loose after so much use. This one is great as you put the towels over the pole. It is sturdy and is pleasing to the eye. I recommend this product

I have a vertical paper towel holder at home that is not weighted and does not have the spring tension arm, and I find it much harder to use. I bought this one for a lake home and it is so much nicer! It stays put on the counter as towels are torn off the roll. and it does, in fact, only require one hand to tear them. Its sleek design looks nice in any decore, and I am very satisfied with my purchase.

Doesn’t take up much space on counter. Heavy enough and balanced properly to accommodate very large rolls. The arm holds on to the roll until it’s about 2/3 used, then the arm no longer holds the roll. I do wish it held until the roll was empty but won’t gig the star rating for that reason, and here’s why. I suspect that if the arm were made to “hug” the roll until it was empty, the pressure would be too much for cheaply made paper towels and would likely cause one to rip the towel, but not at the seam where desired. We use Sam’s and Costco brands, which I would say is a middle of the road towel. I can’t attest to the durability of this item as I’ve not had it for more than a couple of weeks, however, it appears to be very well constructed. We are very happy with this purchase. That’s more than I ever thought I could say about a paper towel holder. Whew! Now, given that you’ve used up all your time reading my short novel, just click the buy now tab. You’ll thank me.
