Might work for a very small axle, say 1/2 ton or less, but I wouldn’t trust this with anything bigger. The axle does not rest in the V cutout, it is clamped into it sideways. If the bolt breaks, the axle will fall. No idea why they did not design it so you set the axle down into the V with a clamp on top. Also, it will scratch the hell out of your axle so be cautious if you have a nice paint job. I attempted to test fit it with the axle on the ground and between the scratching and the strength concerns, I am going to go another route.

Ordered in July of 23 and got what seems to be the updated version which is CNC cut from a single piece of steel rather than the little bars welded together in the one picture. Seems to be a sturdy design, but of course, it's just bolted to an engine stand, so you do have to take it from the initial standpoint of being outside it's overall design. A bench mounted hold might make it really nice if you do lots of rear end work, but for me as a hobby guy, this is quite suitable for doing a little here and there before getting around to the job.

I needed this to hold up a Dana 60 front axle. Due to the clamp mechanism I don’t trust it at all. Ideally it would hold the axle captive, but it relies on a single bolt on each side with a clamp that can rotate off easily. I would likely get injured if I used this for a Dana 60. Maybe a 10 bolt.

5 stars for functionality, 1 star on the paint job, 0 stars for me not fabbing my own. It all evens out to the rating I gave it, I'd say.I'd ONLY (but highly) recommend this product if you're situation matches the following:-you're regearing without a vehicle lift-doing some fabrication on an axle housing-YOU ALREADY HAVE AN ENGINE STAND, and it's sitting around not being used. It should also be a really sturdy engine stand. Don't expect to be torquing 400 ft-lbs. on a crush sleeve if you don't have a way to keep the stand from rolling around on its casters, or flipping over.If those cases don't fit your situation, there are plenty of other solutions for holding an axle housing.I can't complain that it doesn't work, I am happy with to way it will clamp and hold an axle housing solid. I'd recommend getting one, even if product finish was important to you. It's really not that difficult to clean up and do a good job repainting it with a rattle-can, and there's not going to be a lot of other competitors for a similar product that will offer something superior anyway. The oval cuts are a nice touch. Definitely heavy-duty enough for a one-ton axle.

Came in as an updated model compared to the photos. Either way it looks like it will do the job, and the new design is much nicer looking. The only issue is the clamp that would hold the axle tube was drilled incorrectly (see photo). Comparing to the illustration and other customer photos mine looks like a defective part. Definitely not safe to use as is. Luckily I have a drill press that can solve the issue, but not sure how strong it will be compared to a correctly drilled clamp.Still worth 4 stars being I sort of received an upgrade.

Makes working on rear differentials much easier. The brackets you receive are not the same as the ones in the photo or on the instructions, I've included a picture of how the actual brackets you receive are setup.
