How to use:
Drill a pilot hole in the shaft with the steel nail first
Hammer the copper nails in the pilot hole
Spaces nails evenly around the base of the stump
Try to remove as much bark as possible to expose the pulp of the tree
With trees over 2 feet in diameter, use more than 10 spikes
Package includes:
12 x Long Copper Nails
1 x steel nail.

Tips:
The principle of using copper nails is that the tree dies due to reduced healing ability and being exposed to a highly toxic substance from the inside for an extended period of time.

The nails are only 3.75 inches. Also very skinny.

Waste of money. Product looked like it would be nice for hanging a picture, but not for trying to kill tree stumps. We hammered in a couple nails into the stump and the nails bent while being hammered in and then the tree stump lived! Just do a complete stump removal and save the copper nail money.

I bought these to beat them into a few massive roots from hell that I have been trying to kill for months. These copper nails were recommended by a co worker.I cut away as much of the root as I could and hammered the entire kit of nails into the freshly cut face of two large roots. Bear in mind, the roots had shoots all over the place sprouting. Unfortunately, the roots stayed plenty alive and now I've found shoots all the way to my backyard as these large roots were going under the foundation of the house. They may work for some smaller roots/trees/stumps but in my case the roots won this battle.

Bought these to make an Ishi stick and more pressure flakers to knap flint. They will work, but aren’t as large as what you normally see when you buy them. They will still work but are not 20D nails.

Le puse todos los clavos a un mismo tronco que sus raíces siguen levantando el piso y no han servido de nada.

Realmente funciona. Hay que poner bastantes, donde no lo colocas sale un brote nuevo pero si pones varios funciona!!

Trying to use the "steel" nail included in this kit as a pilot hole for the copper nails was useless. It went in but was very difficult to remove twelve times with it straight enough to reuse. The copper nails are what you'd expect -- 12 sixteen-penny or so nails made of copper that would eventually kill a small tree.Copper is a soft metal and it kills trees, but this is not an instant or cheap solution. The tree must really grow around the copper nails to absorb the poison of the copper, and the copper nails are so soft that they must have proper pilot holes that are big enough to only barely require pushing on them. The instructions included in the kit are useless. Maybe for liability, but still useless. So why is this not a lower rating? Because they are still copper nails and they are indeed poisonous to trees. I had to learn this the hard way, after trial and error and talking to a tree specialist about what I was doing.Want to use copper nails to kill trees?1. Don't expect it to happen fast.2. Drill pilot holes bigger than the copper nails so you can nail them in very easily.3. Forget the steel pilot nail that comes with this kit.4. Don't plan on easily removing the copper nails or re-using them.5. Plan on using one copper nail at a minimum ratio of about 1 to every two inches of circumference at the base of the tree. If the tree measures 48 inches around, you'll need at last 24, but more likely 36-48 nails to insert into the bottom of the tree.6. If you want to do this stealth, as if you were doing it to a tree on someone else's property, best thing to do would be to find a drill bit slightly larger than the nails and drill a bunch of holes around the base of the tree. Pound or place the nails in the holes all the way. Make them as invisible as possible. Another option might be to smash the heads of the nails, drill the hole a little longer than the nails, and just put them all the way in so the tree will heal/grow around them and fully absorb the poison. This is not an endorsement of any illegal behavior or activity.

Pre-drill holes or you will bend the nails as copper is a soft material.I have used these several times to kill recently cut down trees. They work everytime.Rich...

We have weeds that grow into trees faster than I’ve seen anything grow. They heave up the concrete patio & are trying to damage a masonry wall.I cut the stumps; drill pilot holes for these 4” nails & dump some herbicide on them. It takes awhile but I see progress by using the copper nails. I use 2 nails in in larger stumps. They work & I’m happy with them!

Yes , had to drill starter holes almost as long as the nails. Because they bend very easy. Used all 12 in the same tree, now I wait till I can see them working.
