I bought this to extend my Genmitsu 3018 Pro Max. I have not seen an extension kit for this model yet. Knowing I would probably have to modify it a little I took a shot. The main modification was for the linear rods. They are 3mm too long. You can cut them off if you have the tools. I did in my lathe. But you could also drill a small relief pocket on the end plate on the inside to make them fit as well. The other modification is for the Carriage mount. The kit comes with 8 holes per side, drilled and tapped into the side rails. the 3018 Pro max only has 6. I used the old rails as a template and drilled and tapped the 6 holes between the other 8 and it works great. I now have a 3040 Pro Max. Next step linear rails on the other axis'.The wiring you will have to figure out for the limit switches on yours. I added them to mine.Good quality kit, for a good price & has all new bolts and a snap in wire cover for the rail slot.

I actually like the extra "meat" on the ACME screw for a know to manually fine tune the X-axis and the Y-axis! I bought two of these... One to upgrade the Y-axis and, one to upgrade the X-axis. Yes, you read that right! I made a steel plate to extend the Bakelites for the X-axis. Works like a champ!

I was waiting for this kit. I bought it with the 20000 775 motor, as offered by Amazon. But, contrarily as it is said, it won't fit the frame for one of the main 3018 machines, the 3018-pro from the same brand. In that machine, the round guides are the same length as the aluminium frame, but in this kit, the rods are maybe 1cm larger. You would need to made holes in the frame to fit the round guides, or cut the tip and make the hole deeper.

This product does NOT fit the Genmitsu 3018-Pro without structural modification. The guide bars are approx 10mm longer than the side bars, and the Lead screw is approx 1mm larger in diameter. The 3018-Pro has flat end plates which do not allow for longer guide rails. The fit for the lead screw to the bearing in the end plate is extremely tight.I would have thought that as both are Genmitsu products, they would make it clear if it is not suitable for one of their own routers.

Unlock your Y travel with this upgrade, it's fast and easy.Greatly increase the Y travel on your 3018. Installation was a breeze, the kit came with a longer Y limit switch cable. I purchased this with the Genmitsu T-Slot Table 3040 Extension Aluminum Spoilboard. The difference is night and day. I'm able to work much larger pieces and completely satisfied with the purchase. One reviewer wrote something about having to cut the rails, not sure what they did wrong, but I didn't have to modify anything. I have performed a few other upgrades to the CNC but this one was by far, the most useful. The upgrade with the 3040 extension will take you about 25-30 mins to convert your 3018 to a 3040. If you're looking for more Y axis travel then get this upgrade, you won't be disappointed.

When I bought my Pro 3018 I bought these at the same time, I just clicked on the link form amazon for amazon. I didn't pay attention that there are 2 version, boy to I feel dumb. Since I brought the wrong kit the guide rods are 10mm too long. I looked at reviews of other people claiming the same thing and some even altering them. So I thought it was a milling mistake and got a replacement. Of course the replacement was wrong too that's when I noticed my idiot mistake.I returned the other ones and bought the correct ones and it was perfect, I have 0 issues putting it together and after using this for a couple of weeks I don't have any complaints so far.

I bought the 3018 to start my journey in the CNC world and quickly realized it was just too small to do most of the things I wanted. This upgrade while not ideally as big as I would like, allowed me to add more Y-axis to my 3018 and reduced the need to tile my routing. Definitely worth the money to upgrade the axis without adding hundreds of dollars to go up to the next size CNC. The only complaint I have is that now the spoilboard clicks when moving up and down the y-axis and I have not figured out why. I followed all directions during the upgrade and I can't determine the source of the clicking, but it didn't start until I upgraded. Even with this minor flaw, I would still recommend this product to 3018 owners looking for a little more real estate.

Y axis rods were 10mm too long and not drilled and tapped on center- don’t waste your money.

I ended up having to have this kit shipped 3 times and still never found a set that was perfect. Either the 10 mm guide rails were bowed or the aluminum extrusions were not cut at 90 deg. eventually I was able to piece together a usable set out of the 3. I still had to file off the burs from the threading on the extrusions. Sainsmart has let there QC go and I was very disappointed. I spent many many hours assembling and disassembling my 3018 as well as checking that parts are square and true. These will work with the MX3 as well as the PROver. Not the Pro though!Be advised: check all parts before assembling to save yourself some headaches.
