Modified sine wave inverters are supposed to be noisier with a discernable “buzz”, but this Astaican 12V AC/DC 200W car power inverter is very quiet until the internal cooling fan kicks on. Fortunately, the fan is not super loud. The inverter build is lightweight. I love the display that shows car battery voltage. The specifications say this unit has undervoltage and overvoltage protection, distortion rate of 85%.I mainly got it to use in an emergency like power outage or natural disaster, but it’s also nice to top off my laptop battery while driving. My 10-year-old laptop doesn’t have any issues charging on it where necessary. Keep in mind that some people say a pure sine wave inverter is best for sensitive electronics, and that a car charger specific to one’s laptop model is the most efficient way to charge a laptop in a car.Overall, my sample unit hasn’t given me any obvious problems and appears to work well. Pretty good for ~$20.

Astaican 200 watt car power inverter. I wired it direct to a 12v lifepo4 pack to carry in my e-bike box. Works great. Runs the e-bike charger no problem since it is well within 200 watts rating. The USB ports on it work great and are exactly what I wanted to go with my setup. Reasonable price at under 20.

I snagged this car power inverter for a recent road trip, and let me tell you—it made a world of difference. I was able to plug in my laptop, phone charger, and even a mini fan at the same time, thanks to the multiple outlets. The 20W USB-C port came in clutch for fast-charging my phone while using GPS, so I didn’t have to stress about my battery dying in the middle of nowhere. Having those AC outlets really opened up options for what we could use on the road. What really surprised me was how compact it is. It doesn’t take up much space, so it was easy to tuck into the console without cluttering things up. The built-in fan is quiet but effective—I ran it for hours and never noticed any annoying noise or overheating. Plus, the LED display is a neat touch. It let me keep an eye on the car battery level, which is helpful for those longer drives where you don’t want surprises.Durability-wise, this inverter feels rock solid. The shell is sturdy and didn’t show any wear even after getting tossed around with other gear. I especially liked how the device didn’t get hot, even after powering a laptop and portable fridge simultaneously during camping. Safety features like overload protection give you that extra peace of mind, which is crucial when you’re relying on it for multiple devices. If you’re planning a road trip or just want to keep your devices juiced on the go, this inverter is a must-have. It’s practical, reliable, and makes traveling way less of a hassle.

This works as intended, providing multiple USB ports and two outlets for use in the car. My favorite feature is the little lcd display with your car battery's voltage. This is a feature I haven't see on other inverters, and (as they say) it should provide some information about battery health - it can also clue you in about how heavily plugged in devices are drawing off your system. I tested this with a laptop charger rated at 102 watts (this is more than many laptops chargers use), and it performed like a champ. With that level of drain, you definitely wouldn't want to be charging with the car engine off. With the engine on, I could see the voltage readout take a hit, dipping from 14.3v nothing plugged in to 11.5 with the laptop on and charging. My main concern is the longevity of a device like this; it feels rather light-weight. It just doesn't feel sturdy. Still, in my testing it seems work as expected.
