These are not as described, they are 16 ER A60, NOT 16 ER AG60 as described. So therefore are unsuitableFor cutting thread pitch 15 or larger.

The tool itself is well made. But the cutting edge of the inserts chipped off easily, even though the cutting speed was kept down and the feed rate was kept to a minimum. This was on 1/4" stainless steel rod. Had to change to a fresh cutting edge three times to get 1" of thread. And even then I had to finish with a die.

I'm not a machinist, I'm a guy with a well equipped home shop fabricating custom parts and repairing old cars for my own enjoyment.This threading tool with matching inserts appears to be well built and allows a home hobbyist the ability to externally single point cut a wide range of thread pitches. I've used this tool several times since purchasing about 20 days ago and it seems to work well on steel or aluminum. So far I've only made right hand threads but I'm sure left hand threads won't be an issue.Using these insert tools to cut 60° threads is a pleasure as I don't have to worry about grinding HSS accurately. A side benefit is if a tooth is chipped or dulls, simply rotate or swap the insert then keep going. No worries about lining up with your previous work.I know this is a not a big name tool and inserts but for us guys on the home team they work well. Clearly my opinion may differ if I was in a job shop or doing production work. Overall value for money - great, I would purchase again.

Setup is a little different, but it has cut great threads so far. A definite step up from hand ground threading bits.

Good sturdy tool, bits change quickly and with ease but size of the head interferes when using a dead center.
