First, this is just the shaft, ferule and the tip, it does not include the handle. You have to provide your own handle. I turned one from some 8/4 hickory I had laying around.The detailer tool arrives completely disassembled, with the carbide tip in its own protective container. The carbide tip comes to a very sharp point and is not rounded like most of the other diamond shaped carbide chisels. This is the primary reason I purchased this one.Once the chisel was installed in the handle, I tried it out on some hard maple, walnut and hickory. It cuts like a dream. The carbide is extremely sharp and the finish on the cut is nearly as good as traditional HSS tools.
